A trip to A&E abroad can be daunting if you aren’t able to communicate with medical practitioners and are facing medical bills for your treatment. Our travel insurance can cover the cost of medical bills abroad, as well as practical help round the clock, thanks to our Emergency Assistance helpline. Our multi-lingual Assistance team can speak to medics on your behalf, authorise medical payments if your bill is over £500, and help to get you back to the UK by air ambulance if necessary.
If your baggage goes missing, or is damaged or stolen, we’ll cover the cost of your belongings. And if you have to cancel your trip or come home early, we’ll reimburse you for the costs you can’t get back – like your travel, accommodation and car hire costs. That’s not to mention cover for lost passports, missed departure, travel delay and a whole host of other benefits you’ll be covered for with a Travel Republic travel insurance policy.

Travel Republic travel insurance comes with COVID-19 cover as standard, giving you cover for cancellation and medical costs abroad if you’re diagnosed with COVID-19, as well as cancellation cover if you’re contacted by NHS Test and Trace and asked to self-isolate up to 14 days before you’re due to depart.
You’ll also be covered to travel if the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) ‘advise against all travel’ to your destination due to COVID-19, if you have a Single Trip policy to Europe.
Here’s what’s covered:
* If you have worked for your employer for at least two years.
Planning to travel more than once this year? The cheapest travel insurance option for you might be Annual Multi-trip cover.
Whether it’s a quick hop over to Malta or a fortnight in Mexico, Annual cover could work out cheaper than insuring each trip separately, and lets you get away whenever you want, without needing to remember about booking travel insurance at the last minute! It means you’re covered from the moment you pay for your trip, so you don’t have to worry about cancellation costs if something unforeseen happens before you’re due to travel – such as an illness, including COVID-19 diagnosis.
You can travel as many times as you like, as long as each trip doesn’t exceed 31 days, or 62 days if you’ve added on extra cover for longer trips. If you’re likely to be away longer, we also offer single trip travel insurance, which can insure you up to 365 days away from the UK. Choose couple or family cover and both adults can use the policy to travel independently – ideal if you’re planning separate mini-breaks!

When you get a quote for your travel insurance with Travel Republic, we’ll ask about any pre-existing medical condition you may have. We’ll be able to walk you through simple screening online to find cover for them.
We offer cover for all types of conditions, whether you’ve suffered a broken bone or have long-term conditions which require medication or treatment. Our secure medical screening system asks you questions tailored to your conditions and works out whether it’s possible to provide cover for them abroad. If we can cover it, you may have to pay an extra premium (sometimes not) but this will ensure that if you have an accident or illness abroad that’s related to your condition in any way, your medical bills will be covered.
We’re sure you’ll find a great deal on your travel insurance with Travel Republic. But when it comes to making a claim, what can you expect?
If you have a medical claim abroad, our Emergency Assistance team are your first line of defense and available on our helpline number 24 hours a day. They can help you find local treatment centres, communicate with medics on your behalf, and can authorise payments if you’re admitted to hospital or if your bill is going to exceed £500. You’ll also need to speak to them if you need to cut your trip short due to illness.
For all other claims, you can submit a claim online at any time – you don’t need to wait until you’re back from your trip.
Remember to get a report from the relevant authority. For example, if your belongings go missing, you’ll need to get a police report, or if your plane is delayed, you’ll need confirmation of the length of the delay from your airline. Keep all receipts. Then submit your claim online via our website. Our claims handlers aim to deal with your claim swiftly and when your claim is authorised, reimbursement is provided by bank transfer. You can find the contact details for our claims team here.
